WHAT IT IS

IPL stands for Intense Pulsed Light. Treatments are often called photo facials. The light spectrum used typically ranges from 400 nm to 12 nm and is based on the desired goals of treatment.

Often IPL treatments are referred to as laser treatments, but they are not lasers.

HOW IT WORKS

Light a specific wavelengths is absorbed by specific targets called chromosphores located in the skin, the hair, or in broken veins.

The absorbed light is converted to heat energy which damages only the targeted cells while leaving surround cells unharmed.

The heat energy also stimulates the body’s natural production of collagen.

WHAT TO EXPECT

A consultation will determine if you are a candidate for IPL and provide a cost quote for treatment.

A numbing cream is applied to the treatment area prior to IPL.

Treatments generally take less than one hour.

Depending on treatment target, multiple sessions scheduled at 4-6 week intervals may be needed to achieve goals.
